If you are a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Researcher, or enthusiastic in these fields of knowledge, you certainly have heard about or read somewhere about how the recent ARM processors from Apple can boost your work.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro 14 with an M1 Pro processor and I am still fascinated with the power of this machine. However, while setting up my environments for Data Science and Machine Learning I had to sought after for reliable information from different sources. In this blog post, I will compile all the information in simple steps that you can follow along if you need to set up your machine too.

1. Install VSCode

I am a VSCode user and lover. I usually program in Python for my data projects, but I also program in C (for competitive programming and some small projects), so the VSCode editor is perfect to me. You don’t need this step if you prefer to use Jupyter Notebook, but remember that you can add a Jupyter extension to the VSCode editor. To install VSCode just go to https://code.visualstudio.com/download and download the MacOS version for Apple Silicon chip. Follow your machine instructions to install VSCode.

2. Open Terminal
